The Famous Brands project was driven by 3 objectives:
- To organize and group different functions and facilities.
- To improve staff flow and access control.
- To create staff facilities that promote staff wellness.
Within these objectives, we designed an extension to the existing building with a st air well that pr provides a clear flow of movement between staff facilities.
The industrial nature of the building, the site, and the neighbouring sites resulted in a canteen building that overlooked pr ocess yards. By using the industrial scale steel structure, we proposed that the client creates a ‘hanging garden’ by fixing long planter boxes to the steel frame, thereby creating an ‘illusion’ of being in a park setting.
This was a perfect backdrop for an employees canteen – in the middle of a process yard. Staff wellness would improve, access control was now controlled at a single point and facilities were grouped.
